The healthcare terrain shifts constantly. The COVID epidemic continues, necessitating ever-adapting treatment protocols for new variants and sequelae. In addition, treatment-resistant fungal infections have reemerged, treatment guidelines for heart failure have changed to reflect new research, and drug overdose remains a regular concern in the acute care setting. This up-to-the-minute session will discuss drugs for acute care that are new to the market, as well as up-to-date management standards for both regular and emerging concerns in the healthcare setting. Uses, indications, adverse reactions, and pharmacokinetics will be discussed, as well as updates to selected guidelines. This session will allow NPs to look ahead at pharmacologic breakthroughs specific to acute care practice, as well as prospects for emergent diseases and new protocols for proper care.
