The COVID-19 pandemic has presented clinicians with a pharmacologic challenge: Current therapies are targeted to treat its symptoms, but there are currently no curative drug treatments for the infection. This presentation describes the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and offers the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccines and their respective benefits and drawbacks. You will learn about the history of therapeutic agents that were granted emergency use authorization during the pandemic, as well as current treatment strategies that aim to mitigate both acute and long-term symptoms of COVID-19.
