Trauma cases are a challenge for even the most experienced NPs to approach. This CE offering provides you with the skills and confidence you need to handle catastrophic injuries safely and effectively. The presentation begins with a review of the tenets of advanced trauma life support, then guides you through the best practices for assessing and managing cases of cerebrovascular and solid organ injury, as well as retained hemothorax. The content is supported by engaging graphics and case studies, which ensure that you will retain this valuable information.

The following content is included in this course:

  • Diagnostic imagery, including contrast enhanced helical computed tomography scanning and focused abdominal sonography for trauma
  • Overview of possible complications in caring for liver injury
  • Detailed guidance on when to screen symptomatic and asymptomatic patients for blunt cerebrovascular injury

How It Works

  1. Log in at www.NPcourses.com
  2. Go to My Account in the upper right corner and click on Courses.
  3. Locate your Course in the list and click on it.
  4. Click on Access Course to proceed.
  5. PowerPoint handouts are available for every lecture under “Materials.” We strongly recommend that you download and print each lecture’s handout so that you may highlight and take notes as you view each video.
  6. Please note that there is information covered in the video lectures that will not be on the handouts, so you must watch the video in its entirety. It is very important to spend time studying all PowerPoint handouts and to watch all course lecture(s) before attempting to take the required quiz.
  7. Each quiz includes 5 items to complete in 10 minutes. Participants have a maximum of 3 attempts to pass each exam with a score of 70% or higher.
  8. After successful completion of the quiz, participants must complete a Course Evaluation.
  9. Upon submission of the Course Evaluation, your Continuing Education Certificate will appear for you to print and/or save in PDF format. We strongly recommend that you print or save the certificate immediately, as your certificate will not be stored in your account indefinitely.
