Joetta DeSwarte Wallace, MSN, NP-C, CPON, CHPPN, is the Program Coordinator of the Pediatric Supportive & Palliative Care Service at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, California. She is an Associate Clinical Instructor at the University of Southern California. Ms. Wallace is also a nurse practitioner in a pediatric hematology/oncology private practice in Long Beach.
Ms. Wallace is an expert in pediatric nursing, having served in the roles of nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, educator, manager, researcher and staff nurse for over 35 years. Her wealth of expertise caring for children spans from genetics through young adulthood and across the care continuum.
She has a special interest in children and adolescents with cancer and blood diseases and she is a past President of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses. She is also a leader in the Society of Pediatric Nurses and the Children’s Oncology Group. Ms. Wallace has published over 30 articles and book chapters. Her down-to-earth, energetic and often humorous approach makes her a frequently invited speaker both nationally and internationally on a wide variety of pediatric topics.
