Welcome
On behalf of the Conference Planning Committee, I am very excited to invite you to attend the 2024 National Conference for Nurse Practitioners in Acute Care (NPAC)! Come to Chicago and join over 900 colleagues expected to attend from throughout the country as we explore the possibilities in this year’s conference theme, Yes, We Can Change the World.
Susan Corbridge, PhD, ACNP-BC, FAANP, FCCP, FAAN, will give the Keynote Address: Listen, Learn, Lead! Dr. Susan Corbridge is the Chief Essentials Program Officer at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), where she oversees all aspects of AACN’s work to facilitate the implementation of the new Essentials, including initiatives funded by the American Nurses Foundation and Johnson & Johnson. She is sure to energize the audience as attendees begin our 3-day main conference!
Plan to come early! This year, attendees have numerous opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills over 2 days of small-group Workshops and Pre-Conferences preceding the 3-day Main Conference. Using state-of-the-art mannequins, ultrasounds, and other high-tech equipment, four Advanced Invasive Procedures Workshops (APWs) will be offered. Perfect your advanced procedural skills in these popular workshops, which are specially designed as 100% hands-on experiences in small groups with individual attention from expert faculty.
In addition to APWs, early-arriving attendees can select from among eight outstanding Pre-Conferences with topics in advanced assessment, diagnostic testing, and clinical management. Whether it’s Beginning/Advanced 12-Lead EKGs, Beginning/Advanced Imaging and Radiology, Cardiac Valvular Disease Workshop, Mechanical Ventilation Boot Camp, or Advanced Suturing, there’s literally something for everyone!
The Emergency Neurological Life Support® (ENLS) course will be offered beginning on Wednesday afternoon and continuing through Thursday morning. The ENLS® course is designed to help healthcare professionals improve patient care and outcomes during the critical first hours of a patient’s neurological emergency. Now in its fourth version, ENLS® demonstrates a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach and provides a consistent set of protocols, practical checklists, decision points, and suggested communication to use during patient management.
Be sure to register early as our very popular APWs and other Pre-Conferences usually sell out!
Unlike other conferences that feature numerous break-out sessions, the NPAC Conference strives to bring all NPs who practice with acutely ill adults together as one to enjoy a diverse program, which this year features 16 outstanding General Sessions. Three of the General Sessions will be specifically focused on Updates in Acute Care Pharmacology!
Condé Nast Traveler, the leading luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, has identified Chicago as the best big city to visit in the U.S. 6 years running. The Conference could not be more centrally located, with easy access to the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, and the iconic Loop.
Thank you for choosing the NPAC Conference as a part of your ongoing NP Continuing Education, and I look forward to reconnecting with all of you at NPAC 2024 in Chicago!
Please, come to Chicago. Yes, We Can Change the World!
Sincerely,

Thomas W. Barkley, Jr., PhD, ACNP-BC, ANP, FAANP
