Allow plenty of time for
travel to and from the airport at the course location. A
3-4 hour window is best - it will allow for any unforeseen
delays (traffic, accidents on the road and other delays).
-
Sometimes it is smarter to
spend an extra night at the hotel and fly out the day
after the course ends, since the price of the hotel is
most likely a lot less than paying for airfare changes for
a missed flight.
-
Do not book hotels that we
have designated as "non-confirmed" until you are notified
(via email) of the confirmed location. Sometimes due to
hotel inability to accommodate our courses, we are forced
to move to a different location. (This is why it's a good
idea to allow plenty of time to get to the airport after a
course ends - you may now have to travel further.)
-
In the event that we change
the location of a course within a city and you have
already booked a hotel room - no worries - most hotel
offer a 72 hour cancellation policy.
-
As attractive as discount
web packages from online travel sites (Expedia, Orbitz,
Travelocity, etc.) may seem - any change you may have to
do to such a package usually ends up costing much more
than purchasing the airfare and hotel separately.
-
So, if you are unsure of
your availability or there other factors that may affect
your travel plans - be smart and think of all the options
before you book your travel.
-
Most airlines offer
discounted airfares based on availability (which is
affected by the cities/routes) and date of purchase.
Generally there will be no difference in the price whether
you buy your tickets 3 months or a month before the flight
(pricing changes at 21 days, 14 days, 7 days and less than
5 days from date of travel). Now, there is a trick to this
also - if you are traveling on a popular route or to/from
a popular destination - the lowest fares may sell out
faster than the time frames noted above.
-
Most of all - a little more
time spent on researching your options (or consulting with
a travel agent), may save you a lot of frustration and
money.
