PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This 9.5 hour comprehensive Pharmacology Update Course explores recent trends and evidence-based outcomes involving pharmacotherapeutic choices and diagnostic decision-making in NP practice. Using a systematic approach, emerging trends of the latest pharmacotherapeutic agents, as well as controversies in infectious disease management are presented. Approved antimicrobials, drug resistance, rational use of both inpatient and outpatient antibiotics, as well as drug warnings are explored. Additionally, treatment updates for a variety of common adult problems and disorders including pneumonia, MRSA, viral dilemmas, STDs/STIs, immunizations and vaccinations are covered, incorporating case study trivial analyses throughout the course.

 

 
 


OBJECTIVES:

1. Identify recent trends and various pharmacologic controversies in the management of select disorders

2. Recognize current evidence-based outcomes impacting pharmacotherapy decisions in practice

3. State new and evolving pharmacologic management options for select conditions

4. Identify common reasons for prescription and prescribing errors

5. Highlight front-line prevention strategies for prescribing errors and polypharmacy

6. Discuss newer antimicrobial agents, vaccines and tests, including appropriate use for prevention and treatment of bacterial, viral and fungal infections

7. Describe current bioterrorism threats, prevention and containment methods
