Q. Who teaches your courses?

A. Our company is composed of active nurse practitioners (NPs) and experts in multi-media instructional techniques. All courses are taught by outstanding faculty who actively teach, practice and hold national certification as NPs. Q. What is the difference between the Live Course and the Home Study?

A. Essentially the Home Study Course is the Live Course recorded on audio CD. Depending on which Home Study package you order you will also be receiving the exact same study manual that is given at the Live Course. The main difference is that at the Live Course you will have the opportunity to ask our expert faculty questions and get a chance to network with other NPs. In addition, our Live Course come with our Guarantee and >99% pass rate to date.

Q. What is included in the Live Course?

A. Depending on what you order:

• 13.5 contact hours of CE (certificate) for all except FNP - 27.0 contact hours

• Extensive Course Manual

• 12 hours of content for each specialty, except FNP - 24 hours

• 5 hours of pharmacology content for each specialty, except FNP - 12 hours

• total course run time 12 hours for each specialty, except FNP - 24 hours

• individual attention from the faculty

• small classroom environment

• continental breakfast & afternoon soda break

• special unpublished hotel rates for course attendees (most locations)

• "Complete Day" package (most cities) available for 2007

Q. How often are the materials updated?

A. All materials are updated (if needed) in the beginning of each year. Please keep in mind some information will remain relevant to the certification exams regardless of how "old" it is. Our courses are designed to prepare you for testing and will cover all subjects and topics relevant to your specialty's national certification exam.

Q. Which test (ANCC, AANP, etc.) will be best to take after I complete your Live Course?

A. Our courses are suitable and cover material you will find on any National certifying body exam.

Q. Who authored the study manual?

A. Most often than not, the course presenters are the contributing authors of our course study manuals. In addition some outside experts have also written and/or edited the material.

Q. What is the guarantee for the Live Course?

A. We guarantee that our live-course participants will pass national certification examinations in their specialty area, or the participant may enroll in a course offered within three months of their original Barkley & Associates course or within three months of graduation from the participant’s nurse practitioner program for FREE. Q. I ordered the CDs in conjunction with attending a Live Course, but now I did not receive the study manual. Why?

A. The CDs purchased in conjunction with attending a Live Course are just that - CDs. The written materials were or will be given to you when you attend the Live Course. This package price is only offered to Live Course registrants and attendees. It is a great way to get familiarized with the material before you attend a Live Course or a powerful tool for reviewing information and content after you have sat through the course.

Q. When will I receive my CEU certificate?

A. After completing the Live Course, you will receive your CEU certificate on location. Please be aware that if you register within 7 or less days from the course start date, your CE certificate may be mailed to you, after you attend the course.

Q. How many contact hours of CE will I receive for completing the Live Course?

A. All contact hours of continuing education are accredited by American Academy of Nurse Practitioners:

• FNP = 27.0 (including 12.0 hours of Pharmacology)

• ANP, PNP, ACNP, GNP, CPNP-AC, P/MHNP, WHNP = 13.5 (including 5.0 hours of Pharmacology)

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. Cancellations are allowed. If a registrant is unable to attend a course, Barkley & Associates must be informed in writing, including a signature, no later than 2 weeks prior to the first day of the applicable course. In this case, a refund may be requested. An administrative of $75 will be deducted from the amount originally paid for the course. No refunds will be made for cancellations received two weeks or less prior to the first day of the applicable course.

Q. I lost my study manual. Can I get a replacement?

A. You may purchase a replacement study manual. Go to our Store home page and select the specialty for which you wish to purchase a study manual. The last option on the list of packages is "Replacement Manual". Please be aware that replacement manual orders are verified and will not be honored if you have not previously purchased a Home Study Course or attended a Live Course.

Q. I lost my CE certificate. Can I get a replacement?

A. You may receive a replacement study manual for a fee of $20. Go to our Certificate Replacement Request page and follow the instructions. Please be aware that replacement certificate orders will be verified and will not be honored if you have not previously purchased a Home Study Course or attended a Live Course.

Q. I registered for a course, but now I want to attend the same course in a different city. Can I do that?

A. Contact us immediately at npcourses@aol.com. Once enrolled for a particular course, you may choose to change to a different venue/city by submitting a check/money order for $50 to Barkley & Associates requesting such change no later than 2 weeks prior to the first day of the applicable course.

Q. I have not received a registration confirmation. Why?

A. If you paid online, you should receive your confirmation within 48-72 hours. If you paid by check (mail-in registration), it may take up to 10 days to receive your confirmation. It is also very important to provide us with a working email address during the registrations process, as we only confirm via email. For those who mail-in their registrations, please make sure that you use our fillable PDF forms and type your information versus handwriting it - this will insure we have all your complete and correct information.

Q. Can I just show up and pay at the course location?

A. Yes, you may pay at the course, even though this is not a preferred way of attending one of our courses. Also be aware that there will be a $50 on-site registration fee in addition to the current course price.
