PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This one-day, comprehensive continuing
education blitz focuses on updating pharmacology knowledge in clinical practice.
Sessions explore evidence based outcomes and recent trends involving pharmacotherapeutic choices and diagnostic decision-making. Using a
pathophysiological approach, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic controversies
for an array of topics such as an in-depth look at the most common
prescriptions, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, prescribing errors,
and polypharmacy will be presented. Pharmacology considerations highlighting
specific specialty populations including men’s health and ethnopharmacology will
also be addressed, incorporating case study trivia throughout the course.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this program
participants should be able to:
1.
Identify recent trends and controversies
relevant to the most commonly prescribed drugs and infectious diseases.
2.
Differentiate between race, ethnicity and
culture in relation to ethnopharmacology.
3.
Recognize common pharmacologic agents
prescribed for select male conditions.
4.
State at least one strategy to improve
clinical practice in relation to prescribing errors and polypharmacy.
Target Audience: Nurse Practitioners (NPs),
Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), Graduate Nursing Students, Registered Nurses
(RNs), and Other Healthcare Professionals in need of pharmacology continuing
education.
